Briogeo Products
Briogeo's Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask is a weekly deep conditioning mask that balances protein and moisture to strengthen and repair dry, damaged hair. This mask is at the top of my list for preparing the hair for a silk press service. I like to pair this with the Don't Despair, Repair! Super Moisture Shampoo for Damaged Hair or with theScalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-Exfoliating Scrub Shampoo if there is product build up.
Mizani 25 Miracle Milk
This is a lightweight leave-in conditioner with heat protection for all curl and coil patterns that moisturizes, detangles, reduces frizz, and protects against heat up to 450⁰F (although I would layer it with another heat protectant for silk presses). It also makes detangling easy. I always use this in the salon and on my own hair.
Olaplex Products
Olapex was the pioneer in bond repairing products. T he key benefits are damage reversal, hair strengthening and reducing future breakage. Although the patented ingredient for hair repair is found in most of their products, I specifically recommend, Olaplex No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment and No. 3 Hair Perfector for repairing and protecting the hair from heat damage. I use the professional version on most of my silk presses in the salon. I also like the new Olaplex Rich Hydration Mask and Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil.
K18 Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask
This leave-in treatment mask reverses damage in 4 minutes. Patented peptide technology works to repair damage from bleach, color, chemical services & heat—restoring strength, softness, smoothness, and bounce to the hair. I use this when I do color services in the salon and on my own hair.
IGK Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Spray
This is a heat-activated smoothing blowout spray that mimics the results of a keratin treatment. It protects against humidity and UV damage with 24 hour frizz control and 450 degrees farenheit. I use this on all of the silk press services in my salon.
Redken Brushable Hairspray 12
This hairspray is a medium control hairspray that flawlessly shapes and finishes any hairstyle with control and long-lasting color protection. This professional product uses Vitamins C and E as a hair protectants. I like using this hairspray at the end of the silk press service.
Amika: the kure
This is an intensive hair mask that's clinically shown to strengthen, reduce breakage, and deliver major moisture to dry damaged strands. This is one of a few hair masks that I use in the salon and on my own hair.
Redken Dry Texture Finishing Spray
Redken Dry Texture Spray is a weightless styling spray that finishes any style and creates an airy texture without buildup or powdery residue. Perfect for an effortless, undone look. This is one of my favorite hairsprays.
